Mussoorie, also known as Queen of the Hills, is among the most popular hill stations of the country. A Britisher, Captain Frederick Young, accompanied by an official named FJ Shore, had climbed up the hill from the Doon valley in 1827 and found this ridge offering great views and a salubrious climate. This visit laid the foundation for this grand hill station.
We visited Mussoorie in the last week of January 2024 to celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary. The weather was pretty chilly, with a low of 3 deg C on a few days.
Mussoorie has an average elevation of about 2,005 m (6,578 ft). The highest point is "Lal Tibba", at a height of about 2,275 m (7,464 ft), where people gather around to get a beautiful view of the Sunset. We were fortunate to get a glimpse of the sunset.
I also managed to wake up early morning and brave the chilly winds to click images of the Sunrise. Our resort, Sterling Mussoorie, fortunately had awesome views of both the Sunrise and Sunset.
This is my visual journey exploring the enchanting and beautiful landscapes of Mussoorie.
